Helping Apprentices build their future

Thank you for visiting the Palmer Foundation.
About the Palmer Foundation.

At the Palmer Foundation, we believe the opportunity for bright and talented young people to have a career in automotive engineering should be open to all, no matter of social background, gender, ethnicity.

The Palmer Foundation was set up in 2020 by Dr Andy Palmer, whose own career started with a technical apprenticeship at the age of 16 and progressed to senior positions with Nissan and Aston Martin. Dr Palmer decided to set up the Palmer Foundation because of his own experiences as a young apprentice, and the barriers he overcame that led to a successful career in the automotive industry. He feels now the time is right to give back. Click here for Dr Palmer’s biography

What We Do?
At the Palmer Foundation, we provide young people from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds the opportunity to progress a career in automotive engineering. We do this by funding apprenticeships, and facilitating the support and advice required to ensure apprentices have the tools, and drive to succeed.

As well as providing funding we offer apprentices access to the best advice and guidance available, so they can make the best of the opportunities presented to them throughout their professional journeys
